I  marked linbot  for removal  (not purging),  as I  wanted to  keep the
configuration files for  later reinstall.  I got this,  which I think is
at best strange, at worst worrying:

Removing linbot ...
Update-menus[14305]: further output (if any) will appear in /tmp/update-menus.14305
dpkg - warning: while removing linbot, directory `/etc/linbot' not empty so not removed.

Why was dpkg trying to remove /etc/linbot?  It shouldn't have even tried.
