Bug#985768: ITP: cockpit-machines -- Cockpit user interface for virtual machines (source splitout from cockpit)

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Martin Pitt <mpitt@debian.org>

* Package name    : cockpit-machines
  Version         : 241
  Upstream Author : Cockpit development team <cockpit-devel@lists.fedorahosted.org>
* URL             : https://github.com/cockpit-project/cockpit-machines/
* License         : LGPL-2.1+
  Description     :
   The Cockpit Web Console enables users to administer GNU/Linux servers using a
   web browser.
   .
   This package adds an user interface for managing virtual machines.
   .
   If the "virtinst" package is installed, you can also create new virtual
   machines.

This has existed as a binary package [1] built from the cockpit source [2] for
quite some time already. For various reasons split out this component into a
separate project [3], and will remove it from cockpit.git soon. This is similar
to cockpit-podman [4].

The first upstream release 241 [5] is a clean code copy. This provides a clean
upgrade path from the last official cockpit release 240 which still built
-machines. As such I hope to get it into experimental relatively soon, so that
uploading new cockpit releases don't get blocked for too long.

Thanks,

Martin
