If you look at

there are few bugs tagged patch and others which are forwarded +
fixed-upstream and also point to a patch.
Would this help? If you compile and the build fails you would see what
is missing and one of the patches should fall into the pattern.
If you look at the unbound patch [0] and compare it with the socat [1]
then they are not that different. And then openssh [2] but it more more
more places.
