IMHO, there is one important difference between testing and unstable, as
far as desktop users are concerned: 'testing' at some time will become
'stable'. As a scientist, I basically need stable, reliable software to
carry out my work. Sometimes new hardware or new features in some core
programs I use warrant an upgrade to testing. However, I would not like
to 'indefinitely' cut off a route to 'stable' for my desktop(s).
Of course, your mileage may vary... ;-)
