BTW, one of the task that could be included here is to have a look at all the
parted bugs open, especially for people having access/knowledge in the
respectives architectures involved in those bug reports (sparc, mips, alpha,
arm from a quick glance, but also x86 i don't have access to myself).

I sort of inherited of the parted package when Timshell left, and believe that
it would be cool if people with access to those arches could help out in
fixing the bugs.

Problem though is that parted is part of base though, and thus frozen, so it
should not be NMUed. There is a SVN repo though :

  svn+ssh://<user>@parted.alioth.debian.org/svn/parted/trunk/parted/sid

where stuff can be applied, or simply add patches to the BTS.

parted and any libparted using programs are important to the debian-installer,
and may cause data lose if you mishandle it, so it would be nice to have an as
high quality package as possible, which i believe is not exactly the case
today.
