Maybe the criteria for the Geography lessons are not the same in every
country. We understand 'Central America' as the territory between the
Tehuantepec Isthmus (the narrowest part of Mexico) and the Panamá
Channel. This means, a bit over five of Mexico's 32 states and 6.5 of
the Central American countries (excluding, of course, half of
Panamá). And for many issues, Central America and the Caribbean are
seen as some kind of unity.
