should xerces24 be removed?

There are currently four versions of the xerces packages in sid:
xerce21, xerces23, xerces24, and xerces25. These contain upstream
versions 2.1.0, 2.3.0, 2.4.0, and 2.5.0 respectively. Given that
nothing depends upon xerces24 and that xerces25 was introduced at the
same time into debian, can anyone think of any reason why I should not
request removal of xerces24?

Note that there are other packages in debian that specifically depend
upon packages from xerces21 and xerces23. I have not investigated the
xerces21 case, but it's clearly too late to do anything about it
before sarge. The package that depends upon xerces23 definitely
doesn't work with newer versions, but upstream may rectify that when
2.6.0 comes out in a month or so. At present, xerces25 is the latest
upstream version, so it clearly has to stay.

If there is a consensus that xerces24 should be removed, I will
immediately post an RC bug against the package and then request its
removal in the usual way. I will also do this if no one responds to
this post.
