Hmm... that's what real source code control systems are for.  I
personally use BitKeeper, but as long as the system isn't CVS,
branching and merging really isn't that bad.

In any case, it's much more annoying IMHO to have a package that is
more than ready for testing, but unfortunately it's been built against
some library that doesn't build on m68k, or otherwise for some other
silly reason is keeping a the library package (and all of its
dependents) from going into testing.
