Not only is AAC less free than even MP3 it isn't really even a standard
as such. It was designed so each vendor's version does not need to be
compatible. I just read earlier today for example that the iPod will not
play any AAC file that was not either downloaded from the Apple site or
ripped by iTunes 4.
