At present, they seem to be better at defining what they're against than what they're for. I think John's GR in part serves to ensure that the Debian Project doesn't suffer from this problem, by making it even more clear what we *do* stand for. While it may be tactically clever for opponents of the proposed General Resolution to employ whatever arguments are most expedient, usage of arguments with premises in conflict is strategically imprudent. (This isn't terribly surprising, though; it is a common characteristic of debates in which there is a fearful defense of the status quo.) I think we can do better than results-driven rhetoric. -- G.
