The port work is not complex and essentially deal with some of the differences between openbsd libc and the glibc, + the integration with KLIPS. Now, this work is a start towards a real ipsec implementation for linux. The *main* issue with freeswan is not pluto (which have issues, but, ok, works roughly), but the ipsec part is the one to rework (this is under way).
