autoppp for persistant PPP connections
Hello,
I have created an extremely simply autoppp package, available at:
<URL:http://www.microcomaustralia.com.au/debian/pool/autoppp/>
While I don't think such a small package is suitable for inclusion
in Debian, I thought others might find it of some use.
new debian package, version 2.0.

Description: Automatically control PPP dialing
This package will delay redialing a PPP connection by an
increased time each time a connection fails. This will save
on phone bills for permanant connections which are often
left unattended when something goes wrong. Note: the PPP
connection "provider" is used, and must not be set with
with "persist" or "ondemand" options.

Unfortunately I haven't yet been able to retest it for some time,
because I use ISDN now (this probably means I am not the ideal
maintainer) but would be very surprised if anything happened to break
it.
While a number of solutions have been proposed in the past for
this problem, I think it would be good to see a solution
formally included in Debian...
Comments anyone? Does anyone wish to adopt this package?
