/dev/dsp and /dev/mixer being chmodd'd 000 on boot?

  For the last day or two /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer have changed mode to 000
when I reboot.  (I don't use devfs)  Has anyone else seen this behavior,
or should I start debugging?
