I uploaded a new package (libastro-fits-cfitsio-perl) the other night and got back a FTBFS (bug #155728) for the hppa architecture with the message that hppa needs the -ffunction-sections flag in order to build. I was wanting to know if someone could tell me whether this is an option I will only ever need for hppa or whether it is an option that is required with particular versions of gcc? I was also wondering if there is a way, e.g. via autoconf, that I could test for the need for the extra flag? Thanks, Stephen Quinney
