i'd say no, go ahead and use debconf.

make it all of priority low.  this is great, because then you get to
dpkg-reconfigure the package :)

you can also use the non-interactive front end, and something like FAI
to farm out your lab of systems. use of debconf is good, but abuse of
debconf is very bad.
