You might want to have a look at
http://bugs.skolelinux.no/showattachment.cgi?attach_id=5 for a script
which converts from Debian xviddetect, RedHat kudzu, RedHat
Xconfigurator, Mandrake harddrake / libdetect to libdetect (discover).
