This sounds like cutting down on the number of problems by just ignoring
end-user requests? Also, it seems a bit ignorant to just say, "this
system is for us, not for you". I don't mean to insult here, but this
point of view is rather simplistic.

Debian has lots of packages available, it can be a true desktop system,
or it can be a true server system. The possibility to create a really
customized installation due to the fine-grained package management is a
big strength.

Linux is not end-user friendly (yet), it always requires a good amount
of reading for newbies. RedHat and Mandrake (etc) only have a very easy
way of installing a system that runs out of the box, this is what Debian
is lacking, still. Except for that, it all is Linux and requires the
same amount of knowledge, regardless of the distribution.

Due to the huge amount of premade packages available and just apt-get
installing them, I even consider Debian one of the easiest to use
distribution in day-to-day operation. (desktop-wise)

A distribution's goal cannot be to lock out users below a certain level
of knowledge, this can be a side effect but not it's primary aim.
