* I have already posted the portion of the FHS that requires that no
top-level directories not listed in it be included in a distibution.
* /opt is installed by new installations of debian
* There have been plenty of threads about the stupid /device mount
points, and plenty of us aguing for their removal. It's a pity this
hasn't happened.
