As they should.  It's not called "being careful".  It's called "being a good
library".

I'm not even going to comment on how far-fetched this example is.  You've
been watching too much "Boston Public".

So instead of advocating against this type of stupidity, we should instead
build software that makes it easier for people to cow before the forces of
political correctness?

If you do that then you are catering to the lowest common denominator -- the 
Lazarus Longs of the world, and not to the intelligent users who we want to 
have using our distro.
