After sending the email I thought that acutally I would provide
both g++ and g++-3.0
blitz has to be configured differently for both 
see for examples the problem with numeric_limits.
and use alternatives to select the version that is needed
something like
/usr/lib/blitz/- g++-3.0/lib
               - g++-3.0/include
               - g++-2.95/lib
               - g++-2.95/include
