Concerning the loss of my private key
Hello.
This is an informative mail to let people out there know that I have lost
my private key. Coupled with the key having no expiration date and me having
no revocation certificate, this is a really ugly situation.
The primary purpose of this mail is
1) To allow the real Kenneth Vestergaard Schmidt to object or otherwise deny
this, should I be an imposter.
2) A pledge to people to be more concerned than I was about the security of
their private key. And by "security", I don't just mean where it is stored,
but also if you know what to do if you lost it, and what could happen.
In general, I urge everybody to create a revocation certificate, make a hard-
copy of it, and store it a safe place. Multiple copies won't hurt, just be
sure they are stored properly. One in your banks safe deposit box, one at your
parents house, and one under the inlay in your shoe should be sufficient.
Please note that I have a few bugs on my packages which I am in the process of
correcting. I will not be able to release these until I have my private key
signed and entered in the Debian Keyring, so I need somebody to NMU these. If
somebody would be willing to upload packages for me, please let me know and
I'll provide you with my latest patches.
Please Cc me on replies as I am not subscribed to debian-devel.
Best Regards
Kenneth Vestergaard Schmidt
