I just tried it with 1.3.27-3, only applied the steps described in
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2002/debian-devel-200202/msg00989.html
and it worked without problems (using woody/testing), I am using the
result at this moment to access ssl-imap.
The other patches don't need to be changed.
