Willing to assist
Well, it is a shame to see Adrian go. I use some of his kernel 2.4
packages. I'd like to help if someone will guide me through the process of
joining Debian. If I'm going to elaborate on Debian being behind, I'd like
to be constructive, and help in some way.
I understand his dilemma, though. I've had to compile/install many a program
to update Debian 2.2 since its release: gtk, glibc, and the entire X system
to name a few.
To be honest, the distribution is dated, and showing its age. Many of the
packages on the ftp server in potato/lib are literally 2 years old. I think
it would be better to concentrate on getting woody ready than doing five 2.2
revisions.
When is woody due for release, and what can I do to help? Is it in code
freeze, as I did not see the binaries on the server this morning in
unstable/main/binary-i386?
Thanks,
T.J. Duchene
