IT IS! Go read the script. It's only a few lines.
Do you see the first third line? The one that says
exec ${VISUAL:-${EDITOR:-editor}} "$@"
That says "Use $VISUAL. If it's not defined, use $EDITOR. If it's not
defined, use editor." Editor is an alternative. What more do you want?
