Ehrr, you didn't get my point. You complained that sensible-editor was
invoking pico for no good reason (as you tried to suggest by showing
that neither EDITOR nor VISUAL were set). What you didn't show is your
system default (update-alternatives --display editor) which is most
likely set to pico.
