What's up with http.us.debian.org?

Is something wrong with the apt-get functionality of http://http.us.debian.org?
Apt-get update works but apt-get dist-upgrade gives eg:
Failed to fetch http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/p/python-gnome/python-gtk_0.6.8-12_i386.deb  404 Not Found [IP: 192.25.206.10 80]

ping works as well as pointing the web browser to the address, eg: 
http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/p/python-gnome

Changing /etc/apt/sources.list from 
deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free
to
deb http://ftp.se.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free
everything works again.
