Re: merged messages mystery
I had this once. A mailbox with a bad message which, everytime the mailbox
was opened and subsequentl closed with qpopper, would "eat" up another
message - exactly as you describe.
I never did track down what caused it (I assumed it was a bad message that
managed to exploit (accidentally?) a qpopper bug.
It did give me a chance to find a use for elm finally though. It was the
only MUA that would read the faulty mailbox, recognise what the messages
SHOULD have been, and write it out the mailbox with the problem solved
when asked to. (mutt would read the mailbox and see all the messages, but
would write out the problem when syncing)
This was a one-off instance about 6 months ago if memory serves.
Assuming the machine hasn't been upgraded since then (pretty sure it hasn't)
then it was QPOP 2.53
Sorry I can't really help on a solution. I can just sympathise. Frustrating
as hell ;)
