I don't thinks so. I'm sure I know "Provides:" mechanism.

"Provides" relates and concentrates on given package.
It's mean exactly what given package provides.
task-* packages concerns and concentrates on functionality of whole system
and provides (very useful) mechanism for users to choice preferred
set of available packages.
There's no deficient about "Provides".
