That's actually not true. Debian isn't the first vendor to discover that the renaming trick hoses upgrades and to recommend a different procedure. Nor is debian the only system that will put the symlinks back when upgrading, if you remove them. Removing them might be your habit, but it's not very reliable. -- Mike Stone
