Kernel 2.2.15 fails to drop setuid status

I'm sure most of you have heard by now that the 2.2 kernel up to
and including 2.2.15 seems not to drop its setuid status
correctly[1].

So does this mean yet another release cycle will be needed for
2.2.16?
