    The point is when you touch swap, your performance drops dramatically. 
The difference between ash and bash in memory is about 5-700k.  Less, of
course, for each copy after that, but the difference is still there.  So just
sitting idle your machine may not get a performance boost, but when it is
doing something with shell scripts (what production machine doesn't?) then
the more processes you can run in ram, the greater the performance boost.

    Yeah.  According to his line of thinking...  "Processors are cheap, let's
compile everything 586 specific!"  Check the archives to see how far that
went.
