Re: gnome-apt worry
No one is forcing people to use gnome-apt. If anyone feels strongly
that an alternative is needed, then volunteer to work on it.
There will eventually be a terminal based front-end to apt which
should nicely balance the graphical front end being worked on.
Demanding change when someone is doing something wrong is reasonable.
Demanding change when someone has chosen one implementation method
from a number of valid options is not.
If enough people complain about the implementation, the result
will probably be the abandonment of gnome-apt.
