That's a bug in fvwm95.  By which I don't mean that the maintainer did
anything wrong, but the dependency should be changed to whichever of the
new packages fvwm95 really does need.

Although, personally, I think newbies *should* be encouraged to use xdm.
It's a sensible way to use X, at least to start with, and I use it all the
time.
