intent to package jikes, jikespg
After due consideration of the license restrictions in Jikes, which
presently render it free as in beer, but not free as in speech, I
nonetheless believe that this would be a useful addition to the non-free
Debian archive. If and when the present license issues are worked out
with IBM, it may be moved to contrib.
One factor preventing jikes from being placed in main, even if the
license issues are resolved, is its before-mentioned dependency on a
binary-only program called jikespg, the Jikes Parser Generator. While
this may be of questionable utility, those desiring to make changes to
jikes will need this, therefore I would propose to package this in
non-free with a priority of extra.
