Agreed, though I'm not sure ~ or ! is a better choice for this. Note that the sorting would have to be on the order that 2.0.8 > 2.0.8~presomething in dpkg and apt. Also, this doesn't deal with all solutions cleanly though it would help. I would really like this solution to ideally be added to the dpkg in hamm so we can use it safely for slink. I don't see this as too likely, however.
