Não deixa de ser um projeto interessante, se bem feito. Talvez pudesse
ser feito automaticamente, um sistema básico instalado com o base
on-hold que simplesmente compilaria tudo o que venha acima dele,
mantendo sempre a versão do gcc, da libc e etc do stable... mas não
funcionaria sempre por razões que não preciso mencionar, e talvez
demandasse trabalho demais para se manter viável.
Acho que quem quer software recente pode usar a testing que já tem
um esquema mais seguro para fazer a mesma coisa.
No entanto, não há mal nenhum que todos os "backporters" se unam.
Um problema é que a maioria são backporters ocasionais (faz um
pacote depois nunca mais) será que existirão pessoas interessadas
em tomar para si a responsabilidade de manter continuamente um ou
mais backports? Se houver e em número suficiente, pode dar certo.
