Hi, TOC: New process workflow now live DM application integration DM retirement Automatic DD certificates Team changes New process workflow ==================== Enrico recently announced [1] a complete overhaul of the process we run for applicants to Debian membership. That overhaul is now complete and tested, and all future applications use it. The new workflow streamlines the paperwork required for an application, and allows any Debian Developer to add comments to the application for the DAMs to take into account when they evaluate it. When the current queue of old-style processes empties, they will be archived. 1: https://lists.debian.org/<20160607090919.GA6160@msg.df7cb.de> Debian Maintainer applications ============================== The new workflows allow us to handle DM applications directly, using the same tools as for DDs. Applicants no longer need to file a bug, generate a jetring change, or send emails to lists. Instead, DM applicants should use https://nm.debian.org/wizard/ to start an application, and their advocates should do the same to support it. There is still a four-day delay in the process to allow time for objections and other comments. We would like to thank Anibal Monsalve Salazar for his hard work running the DM application process since it was first introduced. Debian Maintainer retirements ============================= We see little value in Debian Maintainers filing an annual 'ping' bug to indicate their continued interest. Instead, following each Debian release we will retire all DMs who did not make an upload during the cycle for that release, starting with the release of Stretch. For example: after the release of Stretch, DMs who did not make an upload since the release of Jessie will be retired. DMs who went on to become DDs, or who have an open application to do so, will not be affected. Automatic Debian Developer certificates ======================================= After discussion at DebConf, the DPL requested notification of all graduating Debian Developers so that he can send each one a certificate. Certificates are available by request for existing DDs. Team changes ============ Jonathan McDowell has joined the Front Desk team. He is also delegated as a keyring maintainer, but we are satisfied that this does not represent a conflict since front desk work is purely administrative, and the overlap in his experience is very useful. Jonathan will not be making any judgement decisions about applications. Debian Account Managers encryption key ====================================== You can reach DAM by encypted mail with the following GPG key ID: pub 4096R/0CA8D15BB24D96F2 2016-06-15 Key fingerprint = 5773 1224 A976 2EA1 55AB 2A53 0CA8 D15B B24D 96F2 uid Debian Account Managers <da-manager@debian.org> Just as new DDs are able to read archives of debian-private, mails encrypted to this key will likely be readable by future DAMs. For DAMs, Front Desk, and others: -- Jonathan Wiltshire jmw@debian.org Debian Developer http://people.debian.org/~jmw 4096R: 0xD3524C51 / 0A55 B7C5 1223 3942 86EC 74C3 5394 479D D352 4C51
