The Debian project maintains a dedicated backup server that contains
copies of most project resources excluding the buildd systems. This
system is in use since July 2005.
The backup of a resource is more than just a copy of the current
state. It consists of 10 to 100 versions, representing several past
days. Each day a new copy is created on the backup system. Copies
older than the configured number of copies get purged.
Currently all backup use 365GB of disk space.
The services in the backup are:
admin.debian.org
buildd.debian.org
cvs.debian.org
db.debian.org
ddtp.debian.org
ftp.debian.org
keyring.debian.org
lintian.debian.org
lists.debian.org
nm.debian.org
planet.debian.org
popcon.debian.org
qa.debian.org
raff.debian.org
release.debian.org
security.debian.org
teams.debian.org
vote.debian.org
wanna-build.debian.org
wiki.debian.org
women.debian.org
Additionally the /etc directory of several important hosts are part of
the backup.
The list of files/directories that are sent to the backup server are
configured in /etc/da-backup on the hosts running the service.
Since a history of changes is maintained on the backup machine Debian
administration can roll back a resource to an older version and also
extract differences in past versions on demand.
If you want/need more or other data from .debian.org hosts to be part
of the backup, please contact debian-admin@lists.debian.org.
Regards,
Joey
