Porting debian packaging to another OS
Hi,
IBM is distributing free software tools for its AIX platform
packaged as rpms (its referred to as the aixtoolbox). I happen to be a
user of this packaging. I was quite happy with this until recently, when,
in order to solve a problem I had to use the package building features of
rpm - and I came away quite dissatisfied. I now have begun to think about
porting the Debian packaging system to AIX - but that seems too big a
project. My basic requirements are that I be able to create and install
.debs on AIX.
Of course, not having a clue as to the specific bits that would
need to be ported, I thought I'd ask the experts. Any pointers, hints,
comments on the pieces I would need to work on would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jor-el
