Re: seeking collaboration to build Debian-based project

Hi Jafet (or Jaffi?),

Great that you are falling in love with Debian, and really cool that you
want to make a custom distro based on it.

There are multiple ways to approach this, and how to approach it mostly
depend on what more concretely you would like to achieve and the kind
of skills and effort you are capable/willing to invest in it.

This derivatives mailinglist is about registering the existence of
derivatives of Debian, not really about the nitty gritty details of
making derivatives. We don't really have a formal place for that, it is
more spread out - e.g. some larger derivatives have their own team, most
famous among them is probably debian-edu a.k.a. Skolelinux. Since it
sounds like you are starting from scratch, perhaps it makes sense to try
reach out to some of the existing derivatives and ask them for
suggestions on how you might get started with yours.

Personally I have an interest in designing derivatives too, and have
experience making a few. One of them is debian-design - you are welcome
to join the debian-design team and we can talk more about that one
there, if you like.

Yes, I see also at https://runicfrostbyte.github.io/jafetegilljafetsson/
that you seem to enjoy travelling. Me too - and one of my dearest
places is Reykjavik, which I have visited a few times in the past :-)

Good luck with your journeys, both metaphorically with free software
and design, and physically in the World,

 - Jonas
