Not that I'm particularly involved in dak development (I just watch it
as an interested bystander, mostly), but I have to agree with Mark on
this one.  Remember the pain when you discovered the SMTP over SSH file
tranfer protocol, and then think about future dak developers finding
your new protocol ;)

There are plenty of good file transfer protocols out there
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_file_transfer_protocols) - no need
to reinvent the wheel here.
