I assume you are referring to
  That point you bring up is semi-orthogonal to the upgrade decision,
  but it also brings up two important points that have to be considered:

The second line was not intended to imply that you said that, just very 
poorly worded by me.

The second line might have been better worded like
  Possible problems I see when following this "we also need to be 
  community players":

The problematic parts are where Debian differs from other distributions.

E.g. Debian has been the only big Linux distribution that did support 
non-Linux kernels. If Debian wants to be closely aligned to the 
consensus among other distributions it might have to drop non-Linux 
kernels, and switching to systemd basically enforces that.
