I retried again and yes, the warning is issued, but the build uses
the right compiler anyway (in my case arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc).

So I take my objections back; either I had an incomplete toolset
when I noticed the build problems, or I was just dreaming.

As far as I'm concerned, Helmut Grohne is 100% right and the warning
can go (I'll post to the bug to that effect too).

This is a bit embarrassing, sorry.
