Listmasters have constantly remain that Debian lists are *not* for this
purpose.

Um. When? This is quite a common pattern for a number of teams,
e.g. d-i, debian-cd, debian-efi.

I was wondering about that since f2fs-tools, btrfs-progs are maintained by:

     Filesystems Group <filesystems-devel@lists.alioth.debian.org>

Granted, that's lists.alioth.debian.org, as opposed to
lists.debian.org, but I'm curious why it's considered bad to have a
list as a maintainer. Is this stated in some policy document?

      	  	       	       	      	 - Ted

I personally hate it, as it breaks filtering of lists vs bugs, but my personal taste is not the issue here.

Listmasters do not allow it, they think (IMO rightly) that it's not what the lists were designed for, and that also, the tracker is a way nicer for this job (it also contains a subscribe / unsubscribe facility).

If you're not sure, discuss with listmasters.
