The only tty thing that I found is ec2-get-console-output command <http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/CommandLineReference/ApiReference-cmd-GetConsoleOutput.html>. And it is only output, no interactive session that would justify getty process. So it looks to me that hvc0 getty could be disabled as well, if it is impossible to use it (on EC2 instance). Correct me if I'm wrong.
