Wouldn't it be better to fix the bugs in debootstrap instead of scrapping the tool, which was designed for this exact purpose?
It looks like you think there are many bugs in debootstrap, to be honest they aren't that many.
Looking through my script I see the following bugs i work around:
- Weird non-zero exit codes although everything went fine
- Copying ssh host keys
- Copying host motd
- /etc/hostname set to localhost (not sure if this is a bug)
- Some packages are left un-upgraded
Marco: Why would you want to partition an image instead of attaching another volume? I don't follow.
