Bug#1123770: libxapp1: depends on unmaintained libgnomekbd

Package: libxapp1
Version: 2.8.13-1
Severity: serious
Tags: forky sid upstream
User: pkg-gnome-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org
Usertags: oldlibs libgnomekbd

libxapp1 depends on libgnomekbd8, and its -dev package has a similar
dependency. libgnomekbd is dead upstream (see #1092927).

It looks as though this dependency was removed upstream by
https://github.com/linuxmint/xapp/pull/190, but then reinstated by
https://github.com/linuxmint/xapp/commit/7868b8f2865710675feb10f8d2c96e5146fbd126,
reverting the API/ABI break. Presumably the next upstream major version
will remove it?

Would upstream perhaps accept a patch to make use of libgnomekbd a
build-time option, with a non-libgnomekbd code path that makes each of
the XAppKbdLayoutController methods into a no-op? (Or perhaps it could
use libmatekbd, a fork of libgnomekbd?)
