Bug#1065594: cinnamon: Blocks a huge number of packages for being updated

Dear Maintainer,

Cinnamon have been left on the station while all other packages have
left with the train ;-)
Currently this is state on my installations:
apt upgrade
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 565 not upgraded.
apt full-upgrade
509 upgraded, 285 newly installed, 702 to remove and 8 not upgraded.

So either build a new release of Cinnamon 5.8 or move the 6.0.4
which have been wainting for over a month in experimental from
experimental to unstable.

Thanks.

Hi, is not cinnamon blocking dist-upgrade but issues with big 64-bit time_t transition (https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2024/03/msg00092.html).

Upload 6.0 to unstable now (before t64 transition finished) risk to add other issues, for example someone have done in ubuntu and remained blocked in proposed (https://ubuntu-archive-team.ubuntu.com/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html#cinnamon) but cinnamon-translation that have reverse recommends (and not depends) is already migrated but with breaks on reverse recommends (to avoid issues of partial upgrade) risk to be removed (and are also unable to install it in new installations).

There are also archs like armhf and armel where can't build (https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=cinnamon-desktop) for transition issue and will block also migration to testing (except cinnamon-translation), so upload 6.0 to unstable now will have the same issues of ubuntu.
