I opened upstream issue https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon/issues/11857
with more details and more context, including the user-visible impact
that will occur when we stop patching Debian's xdg-desktop-portal to
work around this.

If this isn't resolved via a new upstream release,
it would also be appropriate (and easy) to do this as a
Debian-specific change, by installing something like this into
/usr/share/xdg-desktop-portal/x-cinnamon-portals.conf:

[preferred]
default=xapp;gtk;

and adding a Depends, Recommends or Suggests on xdg-desktop-portal-xapp
and/or xdg-desktop-portal-gtk.
