這是 CorelLinux 寄來的一封信。希望 CLE
協助他們做中文化。有興趣的朋友可以跟他們聯絡。
Debian Chinese 可能也幫得上忙...:)

Dear Platin:

I greatly admire your effort in developing CLE. It appears that because
of your efforts, Linux is going full steam in Taiwan.

I probably should first introduce myself. I am a lawyer doing business
in Hawaii, Texas and Canada. I was born and raised in Taiwan before I
came to the United States (Mr. Y. J. Ma, mayor of Taipei, was my high
school classmate at Chien-Kuo High School, and my college classmate at
Taita, Abian, was recently elected President of Taiwan.)

The reason I want to talk to you is that Corel is interested in
localizing its Corel Linux in Chinese. I know you have done a great job
in "localizing" Red Hat and Mandrake Linux, and I believe you may
similarly be able to do a great job for Corel Linux, which, I am sure
you are aware of, is based on Debian.

I want to recommend you to Corel management to help them localizing
their Linux into Chinese. Corel is located in Ottawa, Canada.
Previously they had a very bad experience in localizing their
WordPerfect Office suite into simplified Chinese. And this time around,
they will be very careful in choosing their partners.

I was wondering whether it is possible for you to give me an idea of how
much money as well as an approximate time frame for you and your
assistants to localize Corel Linux? I know it is very difficult to get
an estimate without actually seeing the code. However, a good bulk
number will suffice for the time being.

Corel Linux is considered the best Linux for desktop use. However,
there are also quite a few problems. In doing the localization, you may
also be able to fix these problems. And this will be a great
win(you)-win(Corel)-win(the general public) situation for everyone
involved.

Furthermore, Corel has just introduced the first industrial strength
office suite. (Star Office is not considered good enough for business
use.) If this project goes well, you may also be able to be involved in
localizing the WordPerfect Office for Linux suite. And this will be a
much bigger project.

I apologize that, while I can read Chinese e-mails, I don't have the
capability to input Chinese characters. Thus, I have to write this
letter in English. Please write to me in either Chinese or English. If
you think a telephone conversation will be more convenient, please call
me or give me your telephone number so I can call you at the time you
specified.

BTW, are you involved in the Chinese Linux OS project by Mr. Chu Ban-Fu
(the "father of Chinese computers)?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

W. Wayne Liauh, Ph.D., J.D.
